Instructions

Step 1: Combine the Base Ingredients

Step 2: Bring to a Boil

Step 4: Cool Slightly

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and butter pieces. This will create a caramel-like topping that melts beautifully under the broiler.

Step 6: Broil Until Bubbly

Transfer the warm rice pudding into a baking dish. Sprinkle the brown sugar–butter mixture on top. Place the dish under the oven broiler for a few minutes, or until the topping becomes golden brown, bubbly, and slightly crisp.
